Inspired by the LB’s habit of asking provocative questions… I’d like to know what’s lurking in and around your nightstand? I’ll go first:
On top: Mother Courage and Her Children script, piles of books (The Last Days of Ancient Sunlight, A People’s History of the United States, A Mother’s Guide to Raising Healthy Children Naturally, A Philosophical Discourse by Jurgen Habermas, Walking on Water, End Game volumes 1 & 2 by Derrick Jensen, a couple of Kenneth Koch poetry books), magazines (4 New Yorkers, a USAA newsletter, a kids National Geo), tissues (bad seasonal allergies). In the drawer: a b&w photo of deceased husband. Clearly I need to clear off the nightstand.

Gosh, that’s boring. Note to self: add more diverse and interesting items to the old nightstand. what about knicknacks, figurines, old gum, vibrators?
From the title, I expected you to dish some dirt on what is taking up the critical by the bed real estate. Mine is pretty uninteresting. Though expectedly cluttered. And then there is the pile NEXT to the nightstand… 38 seed/plant catalogs, an intro issue of Backyard Poultry, beekeeping supply catalogs, 3 unfinished knitting projects, etc. etc. At least you didn’t ask what is UNDER the bed. Yeee. We just won’t go there.
the more interesting items in my nightstand drawer had to be relocated to higher ground, if you know what i mean. i think you have very interesting items on your nightstand. even if they’re not naughty, they’re definitely dirty. now that you’ve mentioned under your bed, you must dish… what’s hiding there???
Wow. um. All the buisness cards I took out of wallet over the last year. Gift certificates still unused. books: a tiny house of my own. A picture book of country western music. A cup made of buffalo horn, a candle, hand cream, chap sticks a plenty, two pictures of my dad,journal,, I think I should stop listing now. Nothing dirty I’m afraid.
The stuff under the bed is not what you are looking for, move along (in Obe One Kanobe voice).
a Lytegem lamp, picture frame w/ owen baby pics, tiny star-shaped box from paper source (pony tail holders inside), stacks of books, journal for keeping track of all books i read, chapstick, lotion, special prescription-strength deodorant for freaks, and little wooden hedgehog (from my friend, scott)
